Here's what I think will make the game at least bearable: After 30 minutes (20 of which involved ads!) I uninstalled the game. With five or more players, progression becomes incredibly slow and the game ends because of another activity, not by completion of the ten phases.īesides destroying the cards, playing a better game, going shopping for a better game, watching a movie instead, et cetera, what house rules do you feel would actually improve the drudge that is Phase 10, especially for groups of at least four? With three or four players, one person inevitably gets stuck on one phase for several rounds, making it pointless for them to stick with it. With two players, both players seem to complete every phase together. ![]() However, Phase 10 infuriates me when played by the rules. Trivial Pursuit is okay if you throw out the board. Roll-and-move games like The Game of Life tend to end quickly if pieces are accessible and nobody role-plays. (A good Christmas gift could fix that.)įor get-togethers, I think Monopoly is alright when played with the right people and by the rules perhaps introduce rounding to eliminate $1 bills. But sometimes, we get shanghaied into playing flawed games as a timewaster during family get-togethers when those are the only selections in their closet.
